The study of Spanish reality, in its past and recent history, is essential for students who intend to study a university degree in Spain.
Thus, the main purpose of the History of Spain is to propose to these new students a set of intellectual tools for them to comprehend the History of Spain as a whole, and particularly in its most recent stages.
Teaching the History of Spain in this course intendes that the non-Spanish student also acquire the most elementary instruments to know, understand and appreciate critically the History of Spain.
That means becoming aware of the processes of change and continuity in spanish history throughout the centuries, the historical tradition of the historical cultures of Spain, the constant relationship of Spain with the World to throughout its history.
So, in this course the student must face the acquisition of these competences:
1. To understand and analyze critically the past.
2. To be able to elaborate explanatory summaries.
3. To formulate questions based on the acquired knowledge.
4. To become familiar with the handling of bibliographical / documentary / audiovisual texts (sources of information, in classical or electronic formats) that can facilitate access to the knowledge of the past and the present of Spain.
