TERRORISM Prof. Dr. José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes) 1. The definition of Terrorism: a historical perspective of terrorism, new terrorism, the terrorist methods and terrorism as a goal. Nationalist terrorism, Jihadist terrorism, narco-terrorism and State terrorism 2. Terrorism, security and defense 3. Terrorism as an alibi: permanent State of Emergency ("criminal law for the enemy", "administrative law for the enemy", the new scapegoats, the limits of the procedural safeguards ) 4. Terrorism and human rights THE VICTIMS (Prof. Dr. Ignacio Ángel Pérez Macías) 1. The definition of Victim of Terrorism. Differences and similarities with other victims of violent crimes 2. Victims of terrorism, victims of human rights violations? 3. Models of care and support for victims of terrorism, particularly in the USA and Europe (Spain) 4. Law Nº 29/2011 of September 22, on Recognition and comprehensive Protection of the victims of terrorism
Learning activities and methodology
This course is structured in one theoretical part and in other eminently practical part that includes the analysis of actual cases. Literary devices and film resources will also be used. Classes are implemented by individual and collective tutorials. Visit and direct testimony of victims´ of terrorism families
