Competences and skills that will be acquired and learning results.
Students should gain basic competences, knowledge and skills in sociology of law. Given the conceptual nature of this course, students should know the different approaches and theories of legal sociology and should be capable of assess them in a critical way. The course provides the analytical foundations to study human rights from a socio-legal perspective, and to connect them with other social phenomena. Students should deal with wide range of bibliography, methods and strategies of investigation.

1. What is legal sociology? A Historical approach. 2. What is legal sociology? A conceptual approach. 3. Sociology of Human Rights: An introduction 4. Critical Sociology of Human Rights 5. Sociological research of Human Rights.
Learning activities and methodology
Learning activities - Theoretical sessions: 8 h. - Practical sessions: 4 h. Methodology: - Professor's explanations on basic concepts and general indications for reading. - Critical reading of recommended texts - Discussion of cases - Elaboration of papers.
