Description of contents: programme
Introduction to media communication in science and health, translation from scientific (scientific paper) to media language (articles and contents adapted to blogs, social media, web pages, press, television, radio, etc.), production of media content on science and health, typology, access, and use of scientific and health sources in media communication, science and health disinformation and fake news, as well as strategies to fight against them. Corporate and institutional communication of scientific and health organisations including spokesperson skills training, communication management during health crises, media relations, as well as external and internal communication strategies adapted to these centres. Concepts, perspectives and tools for communication and dissemination of science and health in traditional and non-traditional media (internet, social media, blogs, etc.). Development of strategic and planned communications on science and health, applying them to specific scenarios such as the announcement of scientific advances, communication during pandemics, outbreaks, etc., as well as communication strategies aimed at the development of mass campaigns for health promotion and disease prevention.
Learning activities and methodology
Classroom lectures. Face-to-face classes: reduced (workshops, seminars, case studies). Student individual work. Final exam. Seminars and lectures supported by computer and audiovisual aids. Practical learning based on cases and problems, and exercise resolution. Individual and group or cooperative work with the option of oral or written presentation. Individual and group tutorials to resolve doubts and queries about the subject.
