Objectives
The student will be able to carry out an internship in an institution or company, with the objective of bringing him/her closer to the reality of work, to contrast the theoretical and practical knowledge acquired and to contribute to facilitate his/her professional insertion. The internship will also allow the student to work in interdisciplinary teams. Both the receiving institution or company and the student must write a report on the development of the internship. The external internship course will be identical in the 3 universities, with a common teaching guide. Only the receiving institutions proposed by each university will vary. Formative objectives of the professional internships The syllabus of the degree in Science, Technology and Humanities foresees the optional realization of professional internships in public or private institutions and companies. The objective of these internships is that students can apply the knowledge acquired and the skills developed throughout the degree by carrying out activities or projects in direct contact with multidisciplinary teams of specialists in the different professional options to which the knowledge of the degree is related. At the same time, the internship will serve to familiarize the student with the work methodology used in the professional reality, thus favoring their preparation and development of the necessary skills for professional work. The stay in the company or external institution offers the student a first option for insertion in the labor market, an experience that improves his/her future hiring options, as well as an environment suitable for creativity and entrepreneurship. At the end of the internship, the student must submit a report. As specific objectives, it is intended that the student: - Join projects and/or teams of entities or institutions dedicated to work in the development of science in society projects, the management of scientific heritage, the projection of innovative scientific dissemination using new communicative languages or the promotion of interdisciplinary initiatives of science, art and humanities. - Develop critical thinking and participate in the proposals and work and/or intervention projects foreseen in the internship agreement. - Rigorously rehearse interdisciplinary and interprofessional relationships. - Contribute to the development of counseling, information and guidance actions. - Collaborate in the planning, implementation and evaluation of awareness and training activities. - Assess their learning and adaptation process in the work contexts in which they participate.
Description of contents: programme
The programming and monitoring of the Professional Internships is carried out in accordance with what is specified in the process PC03.a. Management of external internships of the Internal Quality Assurance System (SGIC) of the center. The Faculty of Philosophy and Letters has drafted the Protocol de l'assignatura "Pràctiques Externes" approved in the Academic Planning Committee of the Faculty on February 15, 2017, which develops and adapts to the degree studies the regulations referring to curricular external internships (PE) approved in the framework Normativa acadèmica de la UAB aplicable als estudis universitaris regulats de conformitat amb el RD 1393/2007, modificat pel RD 861/2010. Tit. IV. I Art. 118; Tit. XVI Art. 421-443. The professional internships of the degree in Science, Technology and Humanities are activities of a formative nature that are developed in an optional subject of 12 credits. As such, it requires a student dedication of 300 hours, of which 250 are actual work in the company or institution. The remaining 50 hours are distributed between an interview with the academic tutor (4h), planning (8h), and writing the report (38h, approximately). The internship cannot have a duration of more than 35 hours per week (with a maximum of 7 hours per day advisable). The students will have a tutor in the external entity who will be responsible for the student's training, the follow-up of the proposed work plan, as well as the drafting of a report accrediting the student's performance, which will serve as part of the evaluation of the course. Each university will designate a faculty member to be locally responsible for the Professional Practice Program (PPRO). Responsibilities will include: - Contacting external entities and companies to obtain PPRO offers and defining an annual list of internships, including a summary of the proposed work. - Publish the list of offers received - Manage the assignment of internships according to students' interests and academic records. The subject is developed in the following stages: - Planning: Management, publication, application and assignment of proposals. - Formalization of agreement and enrollment. The PPRO agreement, provided by Academic Management, must include the work plan and schedule. It must be signed by both the tutor in the company and the person responsible for the subject, after signature by the dean of the corresponding faculty. This agreement covers the legal requirements related to the stay of students in companies, and allows the enrollment of the subject. - Development of the internship in the company or institution. - Evaluation: The student will submit a written report following the available model that will be assessed and will count for 60% of the final grade. The tutor in the company will present an evaluation report of the student's stay that will count for the remaining 40% of the grade.
