The programming and monitoring of the Professional Internships is carried out in accordance with what is specified in the process PC03.a. Management of external internships of the Internal Quality Assurance System (SGIC) of the center. The Faculty of Philosophy and Letters has drafted the Protocol de l'assignatura "Pràctiques Externes" approved in the Academic Planning Committee of the Faculty on February 15, 2017, which develops and adapts to the degree studies the regulations referring to curricular external internships (PE) approved in the framework Normativa acadèmica de la UAB aplicable als estudis universitaris regulats de conformitat amb el RD 1393/2007, modificat pel RD 861/2010. Tit. IV. I Art. 118; Tit. XVI Art. 421-443.
The professional internships of the degree in Science, Technology and Humanities are activities of a formative nature that are developed in an optional subject of 12 credits. As such, it requires a student dedication of 300 hours, of which 250 are actual work in the company or institution. The remaining 50 hours are distributed between an interview with the academic tutor (4h), planning (8h), and writing the report (38h, approximately). The internship cannot have a duration of more than 35 hours per week (with a maximum of 7 hours per day advisable).
The students will have a tutor in the external entity who will be responsible for the student's training, the follow-up of the proposed work plan, as well as the drafting of a report accrediting the student's performance, which will serve as part of the evaluation of the course.
Each university will designate a faculty member to be locally responsible for the Professional Practice Program (PPRO). Responsibilities will include:
- Contacting external entities and companies to obtain PPRO offers and defining an annual list of internships, including a summary of the proposed work.
- Publish the list of offers received
- Manage the assignment of internships according to students' interests and academic records.
The subject is developed in the following stages:
- Planning: Management, publication, application and assignment of proposals.
- Formalization of agreement and enrollment. The PPRO agreement, provided by Academic Management, must include the work plan and schedule. It must be signed by both the tutor in the company and the person responsible for the subject, after signature by the dean of the corresponding faculty. This agreement covers the legal requirements related to the stay of students in companies, and allows the enrollment of the subject.
- Development of the internship in the company or institution.
- Evaluation: The student will submit a written report following the available model that will be assessed and will count for 60% of the final grade. The tutor in the company will present an evaluation report of the student's stay that will count for the remaining 40% of the grade.
