Objectives
The main objectives of this course are to: - Integrate the different elements and characteristics of film language. - Learn and apply different visual methodologies that allow a comprehensive analysis of different types of film narratives. - Identify the social, cultural, political and aesthetic role of the image from a historical perspective, with a particular emphasis in contemporary society. - Develop the creativity and expression through the moving image.
Skills and learning outcomes
Description of contents: programme
This course deals in an analytic way with the structure and functioning of film grammar, from the emergence of 19th century technologies (photography and cinema) to the new media of the digital era. Programme: 1. Understanding the image 2. History of the image 3. Narrative Models 4. Syntactic codes. Mise-en-scène 5. New Narratives 6. Non-narrative films 7. From analogic to digital 8. Human audiovisual being 9. Gender perspective in film analysis
Learning activities and methodology
1. Lectures and seminars Different elements of film grammar will be studied in order to acquire the necessary tools to analyze the moving image. 2. Assignments: Students will carry out several assignments and activities in order to assimilate the content of the course.
