SECTION 1: THE NATURE OF THE HISTORIOGRAPHIC DISCIPLINE 1. On the concept of Historiography 2. The epistemological status of Historiography between the human and social sciences. The problem of interdisciplinarity. 3. The birth and development of Historiography as a science. SECTION 2: THE CONSTRUCTION OF HISTORIOGRAPHICAL KNOWLEDGE 4. Society, time and space as constitutive elements of historical reality. 5. Systems, states, subjects and social changes as explanatory basis of History. 6. The analysis of temporality: chronology and periodization. history of the present and lived history. 7. The nature of the historiographical explanation: hermeneutic, linguistic, narrative and history. 8. History and memory. SECTION 3: THE INSTRUMENTS OF THE HISTORIOGRAPHIC ANALYSIS 9. The specific nature of the historiographic method: temporal perspective, historical context, comparative study, dialectical confrontation and critical re- vision. 10. The design of historical research: hypothesis, narration, arguments, generalizations and explanations. 11. Sources and methods of historical documentation. 12. Elementary Quantitative Techniques
