Objectives
Basic competences: CB6 To acquirers and understand the knowledge that provides a basis or opportunity to be original in the development and / or application of ideas, often in a research context CB7 To know how to apply the acquired knowledge and their ability to solve problems in new or unfamiliar environments within broader (or multidisciplinary) contexts related to their area of ¿¿study CB8 To be able to integrate knowledge and challenges to the complexity of formulating judgments of an information that, being incomplete or limited, reflections on the social and ethical responsibilities linked to the application of their knowledge and judgments CB9 To know how to communicate conclusions and the technical knowledge and the ultimate reasons that sustain the students to specialized and non-specialized audiences in a clear and unambiguous way CB10 To learn skills that allow the students to continue studying in a way that will be largely self-directed or autonomous. General competences CG1 Ability to understand the main factors involved in geopolitical and strategic analysis CG2 Ability to understand and analyze from a critical perspective the territorial dimension of the discourses and practices that govern international politics, as well as to contribute to public debate about them and to deepen the values ¿¿of democracy, dialogue, tolerance, social and environmental justice and peace. CG3 Capacity to understand and analyze national and international conflicts that have a base or territorial incidence and propose strategies and political instruments that can contribute to their resolution. CG4 Ability to apply the theoretical and methodological knowledge of geopolitical and strategic studies to the analysis and resolution of concrete cases and empirical problems. CG5 Ability to demonstrate critical sense in the analytical arguments of their own and of others. CG6 Ability to plan and carry out autonomously a research in the field of geopolitics and strategic studies CG7 Ability to communicate and present, in a clear, precise and rigorous manner, geopolitical and strategic reports to both specialized and non-specialized publics Especific competences: CE6 Ability to understand and use the graphic and cartographic representation techniques of geopolitical and strategic analysis. CE7 Ability to understand and prepare geopolitical and strategic reports according to the specific methods and techniques of this type of document. CE8 Ability to understand the main geopolitical problems and challenges of today's world and to identify the most relevant risks and threats to national and international security, as well as to analyze them and propose solutions and instruments to combat them. Results: -Ability to understand and analyze some of the main conflicts, problems and current geopolitical challenges on a world scale. -Ability to search, select and synthesize diverse and pertinent sources of information on topical geopolitical issues and evaluate them critically. -Ability to present information orally and in writing about the geopolitical issues addressed.
Description of contents: programme
1. The study of the population, sources of information 2. Changes in the geographical distribution of the population in the global world and its geopolitical implications. 3. Demography in ethnic and religious conflicts. 4. Demographic trends and territorial patterns in Spain. 5. Main territorial trends of the international migration in the world. 6. Forced migrations: refugees, internally displaced persons and asylum seekers. 7. Diasporas and transnational peoples. 8. Current and future trends in the geopolitics of migrations, 9. The geopolitics of migration in Spain (I). Immigrant population: integration and national policies. 10. The geopolitics of migration in Spain (II). The emigration of spaniards to the foreigner and its political consequences. 11. The migrations in the movies.

Formation activities -Theoretical classes -Theoretical and practical classes -Tutorias -Individual work of the tutored studen Teaching Methodologies -Presentations with support of computer and audiovisual media, in which the main concepts of the subject are developed and the bibliography is provided to complement the students' learning. -Critical reading of texts recommended by the subject teacher: Press articles, reports, manuals and / or academic articles, either for further discussion in class, or to expand and consolidate the knowledge of the subject. -Resolution of practical cases, problems, etc. raised by the teacher individually or in groups. -Presentations and discussion in class -under the teacher's moderation- of topics related to the content of the subject, as well as practical cases. -Elaboration of work and reports individually or in groups
