Objectives

1. Consciousness of Law as a system to regulate social relations 2. Consciousness of the Legal System as a whole and consciousness of the necessary interdisciplinary approach to legal problems 3. Ability to use different legal texts (Acts, Bills, judgments and rulings) 4. Ability to use principles and constitutional values in the interpretation of legal system 5. Commitment and understanding of ethical values and principles 6. Ability to take a position on the concept of rights and their role in the constitutional order.

Description of contents: programme

This subject is the first approach of the student to the legal phenomenon. Main Topics: 1. Sources of Law 2. Interpretation and implementation of law 3. Legal Systems: Common Law and Continental Law. 4. Introduction to Human Rights and Human Values (Dignity, Liberty, Equality, Justice) 5. Meaning and Significance of Human Rights 6. What are the rights? Individual and civil rights; Political rights; Economic, social and cultural rights 7. Introduction to International Law 8. Introduction to EU Law

Learning activities and methodology

The course implies practical and theoretical knowledge. With regard to the teaching method, alongside the traditional theoretical seminars, a good deal of practice sessions shall take place (solution of real conflicts, individually or in groups, analysis of facts) that will let the student apply the knowledge acquired to the problems that he might face in his professional life
