Objetivos
Competencias Específicas - Buscar, analizar y comprender las propiedades de datos cuantitativos asociados al estudio de los fenómeno sociales. - Evaluar los estudios del logro socioeconómico a partir de la relación entre teoría y desarrollos metodológicos . - Comprender la relación entre los factores macro, meso y micro en la formación y reproducción de las desigualdades sociales. - Conocer la relación entre avances metodológicos y debates teóricos. Resultados de aprendizaje 1. Comprender los principales retos socio-demográficos a los que se enfrenta Europa (envejecimiento, baja fertilidad y problemas de integración de la segunda generación de inmigrantes) y su relación con los diferentes modelos de Bienestar 2. Comprender el potencial de la inmigración y la reducción de la desigualdad de género para hacer frente a los retos socio-demográficos 3. Dominar los debates tipológicos y empíricos relativos a las diferencias internacionales en las estructuras familiares, la estandarización en los ciclos vitales y los determinantes de la transición entre eventos vitales. 4. Conocer qué factores económicos, sociales e institucionales explican las diferencias demográficas internacionales, sobre todo, en lo relativo a los niveles de envejecimiento, fertilidad y transición a la vida adulta. 5. Conocer las principales teorías, métodos y temas sustantivos de la investigación de cursos de vida (life course research) con especial atención a los procesos de desventaja acumulativa, envejecimiento, salud, la interrelación entre familia y mercado laboral y la incorporación de la segunda generación de inmigrantes 6. Comprender la aportación de la perspectiva de curso de vida en el estudio de la desigualdad social 7. Conocer las principales teorías, debates metodológicos y la última evidencia empírica comparada sobre desigualdades de género y la relación entre familia-mercado y Estado de Bienestar 8. Conocer las teorías, conceptos y debates contemporáneos sobre los procesos migratorios: variaciones en el perfil y flujos; la selección de los migrantes; factores de empuje y atracción. 9. Dominar los debates tipológicos y empíricos relativos a la incorporación de los inmigrantes, con especial atención a las fuentes de la desigualdad étnica, los factores de integración y a los procesos de categorización y discriminación étnico.-racial 10. Comprender los principios metodológicos básicos de los experimentos de campo para el estudio de la discriminación, sus ventajas frente al estudio con datos observacionales y sus limitaciones, en particular en lo relativo a cuestiones de validez externa.

1. Retos sociodemográficos: Envejecimiento, baja fertilidad y problemas de integración de la población de origen inmigrante: La relación entre instituciones y riesgos socio-demográficos 2. Modelos de edad, periodo y cohorte en la investigación de los curso de vida 3. Ciclo de vida y salud 4. La perspectiva del curso de vida en el análisis de la desigualdad social: El papel de la (des)ventaja cumulativa en el estudio de la desigualdad de género y la desigualdad etno-racial 5. Formación familiar, ciclos vitales y la relación entre fertilidad y mercado laboral. 6. Desigualdad de género desde una perspectiva de ciclo vital: El papel de la socialización en roles de género sobre las decisiones educativas y profesionales 7. Teorías sobre la desigualdad de género: Teorías de oferta, demanda, modelos de inversión socialmente condicionada y el debate sobre las explicaciones socio-biológicas 8. Procesos migratorios: Panorama de la inmigración en Europa; Factores de empuje y atracción y selección de los migrantes; Primera y segunda generación y la perspectiva intergeneracional 9.
