Public international law Instruments and international cooperation regimes

The subject focuses on the analysis of diplomatic and consular relations in international society, with the aim of introducing students to the basic aspects of diplomatic and consular law, paying special attention to diplomatic functions, diplomatic missions, diplomatic status and consular functions. It is a subject that deepens the understanding of public international law and its relationship with our legal system.

Diplomatic and consular relations law, with reference to the creation and operation of diplomatic missions and statutes and members of the diplomatic mission, consular functions, distinguishing between political functions, functions relating to nationality, assistance functions, administrative functions, private law and the legal functions and finally the statutes of the consular offices and its members.

An hour and a half of theory class (lecture) will be given, where the fundamental contents indicated in the syllabus of the subject will be explained in an orderly manner. For a proper understanding of the explanations, prior reading of the subject in the reference manual is recommended. In the second session (practical class), also lasting an hour and a half, practical cases and workshops will be held in which students will present and discuss the proposed topics, acquiring the necessary skills to solve the legal problems raised.
