Objectives
After completing the course the student will be able: - To know specific public management approaches and methods - To understand skills needed to develop effective governance predirectivo or management level in public administration. - To contribute promoting the develop of management skills and use knowledge of which is relevant to public management an governance
Description of contents: programme
1. Public management and management skills. Historical trends, changes and current situation. 2. Basics of human resources management in public sector. 3. Organizational communication and public managers communication systems. 4. Negotiation skills and conflict resolution in the public domain. 5. Strategic and quality management in public administration. 6. Public ethics, transparency and accountability of public managers.
Learning activities and methodology
- Lectures and case studies in class - Simulation excercices on managerial skills (group) - Presentations, where appropriate, by student teams - Report on public management case
