Objectives
- Identifying and understanding the principles and legal techniques for the protection of the environment as applied to the regulated industries (economic sectors). - to become aware of the relevance of environmental protection in the operation of regulated economic sectors.
Description of contents: programme
1.- Introduction to environmental law: concept and contents; sources; allocation of powers in environmental protection. 2.- The principles of Environmental Law. Its relevance in the domain of industry regulation. 3.- The main techniques for environmental protection, as applied to regulated economic sectors: EIA, IPPC, environmental liability, market based instruments. 4.- Cases preparation and in-class discussions: - EIA of an energy production project - Integrated permit for energy installation - Debates over specific problems and issues
