Requirements (Subjects that are assumed to be known)
Students from the Bachelor in Humanities are expected to have passed History of Art I. This does not apply to incoming students, who will however benefit from having at least a very basic knowledge of art. All students should have a good command of the language (Spanish or English).
Objectives
The students will learn how to: - Analyze an artistic image in its constituent elements and in the frame of the art movement(s) it belongs to. - Study a given work of art in relationship to its historical, social, cultural and ideological context - Understand the cultural and symbolic values of any piece of art. - Evaluate and comprehend primary sources and art history texts, in order to be able to understand the nature of artistic activities and their social, political and economic implications.

The syllabus is a follow-up to History of Art I. As such, it is organized as a chronological study of the main artistic manifestations of the Western World from roughly 1400 AD to our days. 1. Renaissance Art (1400-1600) 2. Baroque Art (1600-1750) 3. Neoclassicism and Romanticism (1750-1850) 4. The Origins of Modern Art (1850-1900) 5. Modernism and Avant-Garde (1900-1970) 6. Postmodernism Art (1970-)
Learning activities and methodology
The course of History of Art II consists of theoretical classes and practical clases. Practical classes will be devoted to the analysis of texts and images. Tutorials are dedicated to the revision of theoretical and practical contents, to the preparation of essays and to the preparation of the final exam.
