Knowledge of Europe's cultural foundation in the classical culture (Greece and Rome), in particular its literature, philosophy, political thought and art, with special attention to their impact in the history of Europe.
Description of contents: programme
Analysis of the literary, philosophical and historiographical production during the classical Antiquity with especial consideration of its transmission. Exposition of classical thought and its materialization in science, philosophy, politics and society. Mythology and development of the classical religiosity. The classical legacy and its influence in European culture.
Learning activities and methodology
Lecture (4ECTS) Seminars with reading and commentary of a selection of classical and modern texts. Elaboration of essays (2ECTS).
