In order to apply for registering in the Master Thesis, students must be registered in all remaining courses that they need to pass to complete their Master studies. In order to submit and defend the Master Thesis, students must have passed all required courses included in the Study Plan.
Objectives
Knowledge: -to apply theoretical knowledge acquired during the Master studies to the understanding of real economic phenomena. -to analyze realistic scenarios of research in Industrial Economics and Markets. -to collect and summarize all relevant information that is necessary on order to conduct an appraisal of an economic situation. -to assess causes and consequences of a given economic or industrial policy, either public or private, present or historical. On the base of such assessment, the student will be able to express a reasoned judgement, substantiated by an empirical analysis of the problem. Skills: -to search, select and process the necessary information to study an economic issue. The student will be able to summarize all relevant diagnostic information and reject redundant or irrelevant information. -to contribute new ideas, make suggestions and take decisions in order to solve economic problems. -to use discernment about the collected information and the ambiguity of economic situations. Aptitudes: -to be enterprising in order to undertake new research projects. -to be committed to his/her research proposals. -to motivate, prove and defend his/her approach. -to show a commitment to cooperation, be willing to share ideas and results.
Skills and learning outcomes
Description of contents: programme
The objective of the Master Thesis is to allow students to carry out a research project in the field of Industrial Economics. For that purpose, students will apply the scientific methodology learned during their Master studies. In order to write a Thesis, students will first choose a topic of their interest, then they will identify a research problem that can be approached on the base of one or different questions, under the supervision of an academic supervisor. El Trabajo Fin de Máster (TFM) tiene como finalidad la realización de un trabajo de carácter individual bajo la dirección de un tutor académico. Presentation and defense. The studend will present a summary of the basic features of his/her Thesis (research questions, bibliographical references, data, methods, results) in an oral presentation in front of a jury. The presentation will be based on slides with a standard format.
