Objectives
Knowledge of the main theories of the cultural crisis. Study of relevant texts in the analysis of mass culture. Ability to define the central problems in contemporary cultural crises. Specifically, the following competencies will be developed: Know the main theories of the cultural crisis. Acquire the conceptual and methodological tools necessary for the study of relevant texts in the analysis of mass culture. To be able to define the central problems in contemporary cultural crises. Know and understand the main methods and fields of work of the disciplines present in the study of the cultural crisis. To be able to critically analyze and judge the debates present in the studies on the subject. Know the relevant bibliography. Be able to employ oral and written methods of study and criticism. Be able to elaborate academic texts, oral and written, related to the subject.

Description of contents: programme
The course addresses the notion of culture in its tense contemporary condition after the processes of its generalization in mass culture, in light of the most powerful theoretical reflections of recent decades. He will study the critical reactions to this process, as well as the reinterpretation of the role of criticism and the formative nature of cultural productions.
Learning activities and methodology
Discussion of relevant texts on the contents of the subject. Presentations by the teacher of the general contents and of the texts indicated and discussion with the students to verify their understanding and for the indication of the fields of problems that involve, as well as of the instruments that can be used in it. Oral presentations of the students and debates.
