Knowledge of the fundamental concepts and problems of political philosophy and theories of justice in relation to the processes and contemporary cultural conflicts. Specifically, the following skills are developed: To know and understand the basic concepts and problems of political philosophy. To know and understand the basic concepts and problems of theories of justice in relation to the processes and contemporary cultural conflicts. To know and understand the theories currently active on the justice and conflict studies. To aquire conceptual and methodological skills for these concepts and problems. To be able to analyze and critically judge the debates present in the various studies on the subject . To know the relevant literature. To be able to use oral and written study and review methods. To be able to develop academic oral and written texts related to the subject . As a result of learning, the student will know the main issues addressed by the political philosophy and theories of justice in relation to the processes and contemporary cultural conflicts and theories that have dealt with them, they will aquire the conceptual skills and methodology to address them, they will be able to handle the literature on the subject and to prepare a short paper on the issues involved in the matter with the appropriate academic and conceptual rigor.

In the history of political thought the fundamental reference in that field is the platonic analogy between the agora and the theatre. In fact, this would be the privileged space for staging the deepest moral conflicts, but also for producing shared views on them, which should provide the glue of social order. In this approach, a historical survey of the process that made possible the consolidation of modern representative democracy is needed, but also of the main contemporary theories of justice. In the background, we will have the fading image we have of most of the deepest contemporary political conflicts: the distribution of scarce resources, the tension between identity and difference, the distribution of knowledge, or the quest for a long-lasting pace.

Teacher presentations on the general contents of the course and on selected texts. Discussions with students about the issues involved and about the adecuate conceptual tools to confront them. A tutorial system to guide students in the realization of the final work will be established.
