A basics knoledge of philosophy and gender studies is recomended,

Knowledge of the main topics in the theories og gender, as well as different methodologies and theoretical perspectives. Specifically, the following competences will be developed: -Understanding of the main problems that arise in contemporary culture with regard to gender. - Understanding of the different dimensions involved in gender problems. - Knowing and understanding the different theoretical perspectives involved in the study of gender. - Acquiring the necessary methodological instruments for the analysis of gender problems in their different dimensions. - Knowing the relevant bibliography related to the subject. - The ability to approach the study of gender from an interdisciplinary perspective. - The ability to write academic papers about gender issues. Be able to develop academic texts related to the subject.

This course is proposed as a general introduction to gender studies, from a philosophical point of view. The category "gender" has been answered initially from feminism; but from queer theory, and the growing interest in masculinities, it has become a category that deserves to be analyzed in other contexts and from other additional perspectives. In essence, the course will try to analyze, and perhaps deconstruct, some ideas around the opposition sex / gender, as the foundation of a whole series of versions of the sexes and the life forms derived from them. The public and the private.              5. "Our bodies, ourselves". Part III: Against heterosexual thinking:              6. Lesbians are not women.              7. Queer theories. Part IV: The revolution to come:               8. The masculine identity.              9. The new masculinities. Part V: Gender and Biopolitics.              10. King Kong theory. 11. Counter-sexual politics.
