Ability to identify the links between journalism and social change since the emergence of the mass media and in particular of the news media in Spain. Understanding of the influence of periodical information in the historical development, either in the sense of change, or in the maintenance of the established order (resistance to change).
Description of contents: programme
Conceptualization and analysis of messages of journalistic communication and its historical evolution. Role of journalistic information in audio-visual or written in the processes of social change in Spain. Main thematic axes: The press and the birth of the concept of public Considerations about the fouth power Dialectic between press and politics in the 19th and early 20th Centuries in Spain: analysis of cases. Republican Eve and dictatorship: the role of the media The second Republic and the outbreak of the Civil War: the "two periodismos"? Learning activities and methodology
Combination of theoretical lessons (3ECTS) and case studies (3ECTS). The first guide in a double sense: lectures and conceptual work by students from the guidelines therein and transmitted conceptual codes. Case studies will include the development over the course of several short essays on current or recent past events in which the link between information and trends or processes of social change, according to the morphology of the journalistic story and documentation processes can analyze.
