Objectives
The course aims for students to acquire a series of technical knowledge and basic practical skills in the use of the main design, image processing and digital modelling programmes, as indispensable tools in their process of professionalisation and insertion in the multidisciplinary and transversal collaborative market of digital humanistic content creation. Results of the training and learning process: - To acquire the necessary skills for the desktop publishing of digital images. - Knowing the formats and conversion systems. - To work efficiently in collaborative environments of networked publications. - Discover 3D modelling and photogrammetry systems for the development of multidisciplinary projects that require specialists in the humanities (history, geography or art). - To be introduced to the practical applications of all these systems in the documentation, management, conservation and dissemination of cultural heritage.
Learning Outcomes
K7: To know the methodologies, tools and techniques of analysis, quantitative and qualitative, applicable to the Digital Humanities S4: Effectively manage databases and other digital resources for research, analysis, and dissemination of content in the field of Humanities S6: Use digital image editors to create and modify images of real or virtual source, in 2D or 3D S9: Update their own knowledge in the field of Digital Humanities in accordance with the latest conceptions and technologies available S11: To present the results of their study or work in a clear and precise way, using the appropriate visualization methods, in the field of Digital Humanities
Description of contents: programme
SECTION I. 2D Image Processing 1. Fundamentals of Digital Imaging 2. Raster Image Processing 3. Vector Graphics BLOCK II. 3D Modelling and Photogrammetry 4. Introduction to 3D 5. Digital Photogrammetry 6. Practical Applications: documentation, virtual reconstruction, visualisation and export of 3D models.
Learning activities and methodology
Acquisition of skills and abilities through individual and group activities in collaborative environments carried out in the classroom in practical and workshop formats. - Basic image editing in Adobe Photoshop and GIMP. - Vector graphics with Adobe Illustrator and Inkscape. - Blender software in 3D modelling: coordinate systems, meshes and surfaces. - Processing of images captured for photogrammetry with Agisoft Metashape. The development of these activities will provide students with the necessary skills to carry out a final individual project, which will consist of the digital reconstruction of a basic 3D design with related information for its cultural dissemination.
