Objectives
In this subject we approach the great literary topics, themes and currents from the XVI to the XX century through a series of creative works. The students will learn how to: -Know the characteristic features of the Literature -Know the main trends in Modern and Contemporary Lterature. -To analyse a literary text and relate it to other artistic manifestations. -To present and argue the results of the analysis carried out on texts and the comparison between literary trends and authors. -To develop constructive habits of group work. -Encouragethe their creativity.

Description of contents: programme
The programme is divided into seven sections, which correspond to a chronological periodisation but also to a thematic criterion; in other words, synchronic and diachronic perspectives are combined on the understanding that certain topics linked to modernity are presented as a constant over time. The programme is based on the reading of certain creative works in Europe, with special attention to Spanish literature based on the most representative genres of each period. We will also look at literature written by women and/or featuring female characters in order to approach their literary construction. This implies the essential reading of a series of works with the consequent work inside and outside the classroom. Students should bring copies of the readings to class. Thematic lines: 1. Humanism and the new modern sensibility 2. The birth of the modern novel and theatre: the baroque crisis. 3. The encounter with the other: autonomy, humanity and universality. 4. The definitive list will be provided at the beginning of the academic year. For the common ones, the recommended paper edition will be provided. Learning activities and methodology
Methodology: Each week there will be 2 sessions (90minutes each one). The following will be worked on in the sessions: A) Presentation of theoretical, historical-conceptual, aesthetic and methodological contents for the study of the topics, authors and works of the period under study. Debate sessions and recapitulation of contents. B) Literary analysis of the compulsory works of the period studied and preparation of literary commentaries on selected texts from the programme, among other proposals for practical activities. * Formative activities: These include: A) Reading of reference literary texts. Compulsory readings common to all students and 2 complementary readings. B) Individual and/or group work: Preparation and presentation of oral presentations in debate sessions and summing up of conclusions. C) Literary discussion. * Tutorials: Tutorials may be individual or collective. They will provide guidance for the critical reading of the works in the programme and for the selection and study of the complementary bibliography that the student must use in the preparation of the practical activities programmed in the course. Type of tutorials: face-to-face and/or online.
