Requirements (Subjects that are assumed to be known)
The student needs a perfect domain of Spanish and its orthography to pass this subject. At least the C1 level on the CEFR scale is required.
Objectives
- To become familiar with the key literature on the subject and to conduct effective searches for study resources. - To deepen knowledge and understanding of the grammatical system of Spanish language. - To achieve the basic knowledge of the mechanisms of verbal communication which lie beyond the scope of grammar. the linguistic (phonological, morphological and syntactic) system of Spanish language. - To identify the main parameters of language variation necessary to analyze the current situation of Spanish language. - To apply linguistic concepts and criteria in the observation and analysis of phenomena involving language use.

Description of contents: programme
The subject is divided into four parts, preceded by an instroduction dedicated to an initial reflexions. As a part of the Bachelor in Humanities, this course offers a multidimensional approach to Spanish language from different Human Science perspectives without forgetting its social dimension. 1. Introduction: basic concepts and initial reflexions 2. Spanish language as a system of structures 3. Spanish language and Human Communication 4. Current situation of Spanish language: unity and diversity 5. Spanish language in Society
Learning activities and methodology
IN CLASS/VIRTUAL ACTIVITIES The course will consist of theoretical classes, in which the main topics of the subject will be explained, and practical classes, where learning activities such as the following will be conducted: comments on the course reading and related activities, excercises and discussions; in these sessions, the active involvement of students is required. INDIVIDUAL ACTIVITIES As well as face to face sessions, the students should do other activities out of the room in an individual way. Students will be expected to conduct the following autonomous activities: to participate in the preparation of the individual and group work to be presented in class, and, when required, to be submitted; to complete the reading assignments indicated in class; to prepare for the final examinatio. DISTRIBUTION OF THE WORK - In-Class work: 60 hours. - Individual work: 90 hours. - Total work: 150 hours (6 ECTS) TUTORIALS: There will be two hours of face-to-face or virtual tutorials every week. The format (face-to-face or virtual) will be agreed beforehand.
