The student needs a perfect domain of Spanish and its orthography to pass this subject.
The student will be able to: - Know and understand the linguistic (phonological, morphological and syntactic) system of Spanish language. - Analyze and explain the main grammatical features and problems of Spanish language. - Analyze and comment grammatical aspects of different types of written text. - Improve the knowledge and skill of standard Spanish language.
Description of contents: programme
The subject is divided into four parts, which correspond to the main fields of linguistics: phonetics and phonology, variation, morphology and syntax. 1. Phonetics and Phonology 1.1. Sounds and phonemes in Spanish. 1.2. Syllable, stress and intonation. 1.3. Phonetics and Phonetics norms. 2. Norm 2.1. Norm configuration. 2.2. Standar lenguage. 3. Linguistic variation 3.1. Spanish variation 3.2. Spanish in America 4. Morphology 4.1. Morphology. Key concepts and main units. Morpheme types. Inflexional and derivational morphology. 4.2. Derivational morphology. Word´s internal structure. Word´s formation processes. 5. Words and syntagm´s categories 5.1. Statement and sentence 5.2. Subject and predicate. Concordance. Impersonality. 5.3. Simple, Complex and Compounded sentence. 6. Sentence structure 6.1. Paradigmatic and syntagmatic relationships 6.2. Sentence and Utterance. Sentence types. 6.3. Subject-predicate relationship. Agreement. Impersonal constructions. 6.4. Simple, compound and complex sentences.
Learning activities and methodology
The course will consist of Master Classes in which the main theoretical topic of the subject will be presented, and Tutorial Classes where learning activities such as the following will be conducted: - Comments on the course Reading and related activities. - Group work on different theoretical aspects of the course and the presentation of the result. - Exercises to be solved individually. Moreover, students will be expected to conduct the following autonomous activities: to complete the reading assignments indicated in Master Classes, to participate in the preparation of the group work to be presented in Tutorial Classes, and to individually prepare the exercises prior to each tutorial session.
