Learning Outcomes
K3: Knowledge of the basics of journalistic information, the configuration of the media system, and society¿s participative/communicational model in the access to journalistic information. K4: Know and use technological and communicational resources to produce, disseminate journalistic information and manage digital communities. K6: To know the main theories of media communication, integrating interdisciplinary approaches and their application in the daily experience of students. / Know the main theories of media communication, integrating interdisciplinary approaches and their application in the daily experience of students. S2: To use information interpreting relevant data avoiding plagiarism, and in accordance with the academic and professional conventions of the area of study, being able to assess the reliability and quality of such information. S9: Compose and ability to apply the informative component to graphic design and acquisition of infographic competencies, as well as basic IT knowledge for use in different techniques applied to journalism and to digital image treatment. S14: Correct use of the language, specifically the Spanish language in its journalistic uses. Accuracy in oral and written expression through the communication media in professional facets as spokespersons. C1: To Know and be able to handle interpersonal skills on initiative, responsibility, conflict resolution, negotiation, etc., required in the professional environment. C3: Ability to use both advanced theoretical and practical knowledge and demonstrated an understanding of the theoretical and practical aspects and working methodology of journalistic science with a depth that reaches the cutting edge of knowledge. C4: Have the ability to collect and interpret data and information on which to base their conclusions, including, when necessary and pertinent, reflection on matters of a social, scientific or ethical nature in the field of journalism.
Description of contents: programme
The course addresses concepts and theories about the image, exploring its uses and cultural, social, economic and political effects. Students will learn about definitions, historical aspects, technologies, and the relationship between image and rhetoric. The politics of the image, its artistic dimension and its role in the media are also studied.
