Learning Outcomes
K1: To know the principles and values of democracy and sustainable development, in particular, respect for human rights and fundamental rights, gender equality and non-discrimination, the principles of universal accessibility and climate change. K3: Knowledge of the basics of journalistic information, the configuration of the media system, and society¿s participative/communicational model in the access to journalistic information. S3: Correctly present a subject or a speech following a logical order, providing accurate information and in accordance with established grammatical and lexical rules and norms. S8: Apply the fundamental principles of the various branches of specialized journalism, efficiently managing documentation processes and specific source systems to develop accurate and rigorous information. C1: To Know and be able to handle interpersonal skills on initiative, responsibility, conflict resolution, negotiation, etc., required in the professional environment. Description of contents: programme
The course explores the nature and function of the media in contemporary society. The concept of mass media is defined, along with its role in shaping public opinion, as well as the link between media narratives and the logic of capital, and the concept of popular culture. The identity processes influenced by the media are examined, and the digital imaginary is reflected upon, considering its political and cultural effects.
