Objectives
- That the student knows what AI is, its history, basic definitions and how it can be applied to the journalistic profession. - The student should be aware of the social, cultural and media changes that the digital revolution has brought about and that AI will bring about. - Ethical use of AI in jounralistic profession. - The main objective of the course is that the student knows, analyzes and uses AI tools for the production of texts, images and audio.
Learning Outcomes
K4: Know and use technological and communicational resources to produce, disseminate journalistic information and manage digital communities. K5: Know the processes of documentation, access to data and sources, including big data and artificial intelligence. K6: To know the main theories of media communication, integrating interdisciplinary approaches and their application in the daily experience of students. / Know the main theories of media communication, integrating interdisciplinary approaches and their application in the daily experience of students. S2: To use information interpreting relevant data avoiding plagiarism, and in accordance with the academic and professional conventions of the area of study, being able to assess the reliability and quality of such information. S8: Apply the fundamental principles of the various branches of specialized journalism, efficiently managing documentation processes and specific source systems to develop accurate and rigorous information. S9: Compose and ability to apply the informative component to graphic design and acquisition of infographic competencies, as well as basic IT knowledge for use in different techniques applied to journalism and to digital image treatment. C2: To be able, through arguments or procedures developed and supported by themselves, to apply their knowledge, understanding of it and their problem-solving skills in complex journalistic or specialized professional fields that require the use of creative and innovative ideas C3: Ability to use both advanced theoretical and practical knowledge and demonstrated an understanding of the theoretical and practical aspects and working methodology of journalistic science with a depth that reaches the cutting edge of knowledge. C5: Be able to deal with complex situations or situations that require the development of new solutions both in the academic field and in the work or professional field within the journalistic field.
Description of contents: programme
Lesson 1: History of artificial intelligence: from algorithms to the Turing test and ChatGPT Lesson 2: Social, economic, cultural and media transformations of the digital revolution and AI Lesson 3: Definition of terms associated with artificial intelligence and its application to journalism: generative AI, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Natural Language Processing, Big Data, chatbot, application programming interfaces (APIs) and blockchain Lesson 4: History and evolution of AI in journalism. Content automation in the 21st century. Lesson 5: Implementation of generative artificial intelligence in media: from text writing to audience analysis, news verification or toxicity detection in social network conversations. Lesson 6: The prompt: concept and strategies for correct prompt writing. Lesson 7: Analysis and use of AI tools for text production: chatGPT, Claude, Copy.ai, Perplexity AI, Google Gemini, Copilot, Jasper, Writesonic, PiAI, SmartStory.ai, etc. Lesson 8: Analysis and use of AI tools for image production: DALL-E 2, Midjourney, Stable Diffusion, Adobe Firefly, Getty Generative AI, Pixlr Image Generator, Bing Image Creator, Léxica, Playground, Leonardo AI, etc. Lesson 9: Analysis and use of AI tools for audio production: Whisper, Check Recorder, AI-coustics, Adobe Podcast, AssemblyAI, Leelo AI. Lesson 10: Ethics and AI: application frameworks in the journalistic profession. Lesson 11: AI and disinformation. Lesson 12: AI regulation.
