Objectives
1. Knowledge of the development and evolution of the audiovisual media (cinema, television, video) through its history. 2. Knowledge of the historical context of the audiovisual processes and their relevance for the understanding of the contemporary panorama. 3. Ability to distinguish with precision the connections and influences between the diverse audiovisual practices, according to its historical, social and cultural context. 4. Ability to analyze and interpret the audiovisual products with a global, integrated perspective.
Learning Outcomes
LEARNING OUTCOMES 1.To haveacquired advanced knowledge and understanding of the theoretical and practical aspects of the working methodology in the field of audiovisual communication, with a depth that reaches the forefront of knowledge. 2.To apply the acquired knowledge and their capacities to the resolution of complex and/or specialized problems in the professional field of audiovisual media. 3.To have the capacity to collect and interpret data and information on which to base their conclusions including, when necessary and relevant, reflection on social, cultural, scientific or ethical issues in the ç field of audiovisual media 6.To be able to identify their own training needs in their field of study and work or professional environment and to organize their own learning with a high level of autonomy in all types of contexts (structured or not)." BASIC COMPETENCES 1.Students have demonstrated possession and understanding of knowledge in an area of study that builds on the foundation of general secondary education, and is usually at a level that, while relying on advanced textbooks, also includes some aspects that involve knowledge from the cutting edge of their field of study 2.Students are able to apply their knowledge to their work or vocation in a professional manner and possess the competences usually demonstrated through the development and defence of arguments and problem solving within their field of study. 3.Students have the ability to gather and interpret relevant data (usually within their field of study) in order to make judgements which include reflection on relevant social, scientific or ethical issues. GENERAL COMPETENCES 4.To have the capacity to critically perceive the audiovisual landscape offered by the communicative universe that surrounds us, considering the iconic messages as the fruit of a social collective, product of the socio-political, economic and cultural conditions of a given historical period. 5.To know in a theoretical-practical way the organizational structures in the field of visual and sound communication, as well as their evolution and management over time. 6.To have the ability to define and develop topics of research or innovative personal creation that can contribute to the knowledge or development of audiovisual languages or their interpretation. SPECIFIC COMPETENCES 4.To know and understand the history and evolution of audiovisual media and their representations, considering their social and cultural relevance over time.

Learning activities and methodology
1. Lectures. Acquisition of knowledge about the historical evolution of the audiovisual media and its relevance for the understanding of the contemporary panorama. Competences 1 and 2 (1,5 ECTS) 2. Practical classes Analysis and commentary of classic works in the history of audiovisual media. Competences 3 and 4 (1 ECTS) 3. Student work Tutored work of theoretical-practical materials. Competences 1, 2 and 3 (1,5 ECTS) Individual essay about specific issues regarding some of the historical problems presented in the class. Competence 4 (2 ECTS)
