STUDENT PRIOR KNOWLEDGE: To successfully pursue the course will require the following prior knowledge: - Excellent knowledge of the Spanish language. High level of comprehension and oral and written expression. Most of audiovisual teaching lacks English subtitles. - Level of conceptualization and expression / writing for a college student level. - History and History of Art and literary movements of the twentieth century. Society, culture and politics in twentieth-century Spain. Especially academic level about history of Spain in the period between 1940 and 1992: dictatorship, transition and post-transition. - Techniques of visual image analysis (formal and narrative). - Domain methodology for developing academic papers. University level.
Objectives
1. Knowledge of the keys for understanding the film and television studies in Spain. Knowledge of academic research perspectives on film and television in Spain. 2. Knowledge mainstream panoramic and cinematic movements and the evolution of television creation in Spain. 3. Knowledge of key visual culture in Spain, with particular emphasis on film and television production. 4. Ability to distinguish, interpret and critically analyze relevant manifestations of Spanish cinema and television in their social, cultural and aesthetic production. Ability to interpret the film and television production in the context of contemporary Spanish society.

- Film and TV in Spain: basic concepts, approaches, methodologies of analysis. - Approach to the Film and TV in Spain: historical periods, social, cultural and aesthetic keys. - Film and TV canon. Authorship and popular cinema. - Issues, cuestions and cases of Film and TV in Spain.
Learning activities and methodology
Training activities: - Lectures Acquisition of basic theoretical concepts on the theory and history of film and television in Spain. Competencies 1, 2 and 3. - Practical Viewing and reviews of films and television programs of particular relevance to understand the functioning and the evolution of cinema and television in Spain. Active student participation. Skills 3 and 4. - Independent study student Preparation of theoretical and practical classes and supervised study of theoretical and practical content and teaching materials. Skills 1,2 and 3. Preparation and defense of a film-tv analysis, based on literature and resources of the University Carlos III of Madrid, that affects specific aspects of the subject syllabus. Skills 3 and 4.
