Formalism. 5) Introduction to Semiotics and Greimas actantial model. 6) The narrative device. Metaphors and running imagery. 7) Introduction to Adaptation Studies. 8) Narrative and Performance.

All sessions are divided in one LECTURE, based on a theoretical presentation, plus one SEMINAR, in which students work on their practical exercises. Students are expected to attend all sessions and participate in the debates. Deadlines for written work must be strictly met. All students are required to do a presentation; the topics for this will be distributed after week 3. Other in-class excercises include: - Working with metaphors. - Working with estrangement techniques. - The 3-act structure excercise. - Presentation.
