Learning Outcomes
K1: To know the principles and values of democracy and sustainable development, in particular, respect for human rights and fundamental rights, gender equality and non-discrimination, the principles of universal accessibility and climate change. K2: To know of basic humanistic contents, oral and written expression, following ethical principles and completing a multidisciplinary training profile. K3: To know the social and political processes and institutions of each area of knowledge K5: To know the basic components of cultural differences and social inequalities. K7: To understand the relationships between population, resources, environment and socio-demographic structure K8: Identify the objectives of social and political analysis as well as the populations subject to social research K9: Understand and synthesize the plurality of approaches and concepts of the subdisciplines linked to sociology. Description of contents: programme
1) What is social participation? 2) Why do we mobilize? Sociological theories of social participation 3) Research (IAP) as a research paradigm 4) Participatory techniques 5) Theory of Social Networks and Action Sets 6) Local and community development processes 7) Planning and participatory evaluation of participatory processes 8) Social change and the latest social movements (urban and neo-community)
Learning activities and methodology
The credits are divided equally into two blocks of three credits each. Each of these blocks is assigned either to theoretical content or to a set of practical exercises. The theoretical contents will be supported by face-to-face and participative lessons using tools that facilitate exposure. Students will have all the materials for each subject in Aula Global. A final exam will evaluate the acquired knowledge (3 credits). As for the practical exercises, there are different methodologies: critical analysis of academic papers, design of strategic planning documents (DAFOs, Logical Framework) and proposals for community development. Students are expected to have an in-class active participation, both in individual and group exercises.
