Objectives

1. Capacity to recognize the complexity of social phenomena 2. Ability to manage information 3. Capacity for analysis and synthesis 4. Capacity to recognize the global and local character of social phenomena 5. Critical Thinking 6. Capabilities to identify and measure social vulnerabilities and conflicting processes 7. Capacity analysis of transformation and evolution of contemporary societies 8. Knowledge and skills to convey concepts, problems and sociological perspectives

Description of contents: programme

LESSON 1. Introduction: The crisis of work in a changing society. LESSON 2. Working in the era of globalization and ICT. LESSON 3. A new company, a new worker. LESSON 4. The problem of unemployment. LESSON 5. Labour flexibility and job insecurity. The informal economy. LESSON 6. The labor market inaccessible: disability, immigration, gender and other LESSON 7. The labor market in the European Union. LESSON 8. The role of trade unions.

Learning activities and methodology

1) Lectures by exposure of the course content: 40%. 2) Classroom exercises and case studies: 40%. 3) Individual papers (research project) Self-study: 20%.

Assessment System

A. For those who regularly attend class (at least 70% of classes)
Presentation of a work: 60% of the final grade
Attendance and participation: 10% of the final grade
Final exam: 30% of the final grade

B. For those who do not regularly attend class
Final exam: 60% of the final grade
Presentation of a work: 40% of the final grade

C. In the extraordinary call the note of the continuous evaluation process will be kept in the event that the student had followed it. If you did not follow it, you are entitled to an exam with a value of 100% of the total grade for the course.
