Objectives
Knowledge of the fundamental elements of the culture and society. Approach to the sociological analysis of culture and society. Development of sociological skills linked to different forms of learning.

1. Nature, culture and society 2. Theories about culture and cultural diversity. 3. Social and cultural dynamics: The local and the global; mass culture and consumer society; rural-urban society; the cultured and the popular; culture of violence vs. culture of Peace; generational change (youth cultures); identities and collective memory; democratic society and culture. 4. Learning activities and methodology
Theoretical classes for acquisition of competences related to the knowledge of the fundamental elements that constitute the culture and society. Assignments will be both individual and collective. Some of the assignments will be presented in class orally.
