Objectives
The skills to be developed will be the following: A) Development of the habit of analytical and critical reflection that sustains the sociological work, so that what is read, heared and seen can be put in sociological perspective. B) Ability to approach juridical problems using the main sociological theories, concepts, and methods. C) Ability to analyse the function of different social institutions according to the most relevant sociological theories. D) Information management and use of interdisciplinary approach for the analysis of current societies. E) Synthesis of relevant readings and communication skills both in written and oral form.
Skills and learning outcomes
Description of contents: programme
1) Brief introduction: Object and method of sociology 2) Culture: Features and components The functions of culture 3) Socialization and the life cycle: Concept and processes of socialization. The agents of socialization 4) Control, crime and deviation: Social control: conformity and deviation. 5) Family and gender. Historical evolution of the family: new typologies. The social construction of gender 6) Stratification and social class: Layering systems Social mobility 7) Society, change and globalization: Social change: main factors. The global society.
Learning activities and methodology
In coherence with the mentioned objectives and competences, the teaching-learning methodology is participatory, continuous and open. Some of the training activities will be: Practical exercises: Acquisition of competences of the Degree in the field of Sociology. Practices during the Course: Acquisition of competences in the field of Sociology. Discussion and presentation of the basic contents: Conference, followed by discussion. Acquisition of basic scientific and technical knowledge in this field.
