This course aims to provide the student with a global vision of the role played by international organizations in the international arena, from different perspectives. At the end of the course the student will be familiar with the role of international organizations of cooperation and integration, universal and regiona. The student will have examined IO's aims, principles, functions and their respective legal orders. International organizations will be examined as international legal subjects and actor of relevance at the international stage regarding in particular the maintenace of peace and security, the protection of human rights, economic development and environment It is intended that the student know in depth what an international organization is, its objectives, purposes and how it carries out its work in practice.

The proposed program is divided into 7 lessons. First, there will be an approach to the phenomenon of international organizations, their origin and evolution. The following lessons will analyze the more representative international organizations with universal scope. In the following lessons we will study the role of the UN and its agencies, and later other universal level organizations, such as the World Trade Organization. To close the course, there will be an analysis of the most representative regional international organizations.

In teaching this subject, active learning techniques will be implemented, both in lectures and in small groups. In this way, an interactive learning will be implemented, in which, in addition, the evaluation techniques will be novel, introducing self-evaluation and peer evaluation.
