Objectives
This course is intended to familiarize the student with the most important ideologies and political movements of the XXI century. The student will be able to: - Understand the impact of ideologies in current political and social processes and movements. -To acquire, through the knowledge of the theoretical forms and perspectives of the XXI century, a set of theoretical tools that allow them to analyze current political phenomena. -To learn to relate political ideologies with various political proposals that seek to solve important problems of XXI century societies. -To develop reasoning and argumentation skills.

Political movements and populism - Religious fundamentalism - Pacifism and environmentalism - Contemporary reflections on democracy - Political movements and transitional justice - Political movements and contemporary ethical issues - Political movements, big data and artificial intelligence - Political theory and current developments in bioethics and neuroethics - Current social and political movements in the face of the reason/sentiment dichotomy
Learning activities and methodology
The course includes both plenary lectures and practical sessions A main aim of the course is to get students involved in the learning process, offering the basic tools in order to reasoning and debating the topics and readings of the subject program Students will be encouraged to compare the different ideologies and authors presented throughout the plenary lectures.
