Skills and learning outcomes
Description of contents: programme
The aim of the practicum is that students develop an experience of actual practice in companies, institutions and organizations engaged in activities related with Statistics. It is conceived as a bridge between theoretical knowledge acquired during studies and work reality of the Administration, INE and Madrid companies. The practicum is done in a stay of three months during the second quarter, or more intensively during the summer, in a center selected within the UC3M catalog that is renewed annually. It is possible to choose this course selecting among the practices that the SOPP assiduously offers in the area of Statistics and Business, given the approval of the Vice-Dean of the Bachelor Degree.
Learning activities and methodology
The Practicum has an academic methodology different form the other subjects due to its own character. Each company / institution accepts one or more students and assigns a tutor to coordinate the tasks performed by the student during his/her stay. The learning process is based on participating in the regular activities of the company or institution in the field of applied statistics. In addition to the external tutor the student has an internal advisor, that is a professor from the University, in charge of the Practicum. Both, the external advisor and the professor, will be in constant contact with each other during the stay of the student.
Assessment System
To assess the knowledge and skills of the student's practice, two documents will be considered: - A report provided by the tutor in the company on the practice carried out. (Continuous evaluation) - The student's report, delivered by email within the established period of time (according to academic regulations). (Final evaluation) Through these two reports, the academic tutor will grade the subject.

The course syllabus may change due academic events or other reasons.
