At the end of the course, students should be able to:
1) Know the singularity of the scientific method and the different steps in the research process
2) Know the main differences between the quantitative and qualitative research methods
3) Be familiar with the survey, content analysis and experimental research as some of the main quantitative techniques in communication research
4) Be familiar with intensive interviews, focus groups and field observation as some of the main qualitative techniques in communication research
5) Know the guidelines for structuring and properly presenting the outcomes of a scientific research
6) Evaluate the methodological soundness of a research
7) Design and execute a small-scale research confronting the results obtained from the use of at least two different research methods
