Objectives
¿ Ability to understand and elaborate diagnostics of the current situations of education and health in distinct groups of countries. Capacity to assess institutions and outcomes of education and health in relation to the inequality of opportunities and essential capabilities. ¿ Ability to analyze the main mechanisms of provision of basic services of education and health, their institutional characteristics and their sustainability challenges. ¿ Capacity to evaluate the implications of the joint determination of the incidence of poverty, adequate nutrition, education and health.

1.Supply, demand, efficiency and equity in the provision of health and education. 2.Efficient allocation of health and education under market failures. Externalities. Public and private provision. 3.Analysis of the main patterns of morbidity and mortality and their relationship with demographic characteristics and development levels. 4.Mortality determinants. Infant and maternal mortality. Contagious and non-contagious diseases. 5.Interactions among health and education outcomes and other indicators of standards of living. 6.Efficiency of the educational system. Input and impact indicators. Schooling indicators and cognitive skills. 7.Analysis of targeted interventions in health and education.
