The course is divided in two parts:
1. the concept of tradition in literature, the relationship between orality and writing, the traditional literary genres and the analysis of some examples showing the preservation of some traditional aspects in contemporary world (Spain and Latin America);
2. the concept of tradition in history, the political use of tradition in the XIXth, XXth and XXIth centuries, the development of traditionalism in the XIXth century as an alternative to the liberalism and the role of women in it, the unmasking of false traditions and the analysis of some contemporary examples (Spain and Latin América).
