THE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE PROGRAM
Objectives
The essential purpose of undertaking curricular internships lies in providing students with a structured first approach to the professional environment, allowing them to apply in practice the knowledge acquired within the academic program, particularly in relation to one of the subjects included in the curriculum. These internships must, in any case, be carried out during hours compatible with the academic requirements of the Master's program. Practical activities may begin from the start of the postgraduate program, and no prior accreditation of experience or specific knowledge in the relevant field is required to undertake them. This possibility responds to a well-established tradition in the legal field, where it is common for Law Degree students to begin their practical training in the early years of their studies. The organization of internships is primarily carried out by the Foundation and the internship coordinator, who make available to students the offers provided by partner companies. The selection for undertaking internships is generally made by the companies offering them, which evaluate, among other aspects, the following criteria: a) The CVs submitted by students. b) The academic and personal situation of the student, their educational profile, and the interest demonstrated during the preliminary selection interviews. It is also worth highlighting that the possibility of starting internships at the beginning of the Master's program significantly increases both the opportunities and the number of hours a student may devote to this activity, whether within the framework of curricular or extracurricular internships, as they may carry them out in one or more entities. This circumstance contributes to more comprehensive professional training and better readiness for entering the labor market. To this end, group in-person sessions are organized, which aim to fulfill the following purposes: a) To explain the general procedure and specific functioning of the internship system, including the documents to be drafted and submitted, their management (available on the UC3M platform), compliance with deadlines, delivery formats, among other administrative aspects. During these sessions, students¿ questions regarding their expectations and interests in specific professional sectors will also be collected, providing appropriate guidance for obtaining internships and resolving doubts. The person from the Foundation who collaborates with the Master¿s program in this area will be introduced; this individual will explain the usual procedure followed, the documents to be completed and necessary for managing internships, current agreements, and the procedure established for formalizing new agreements with host entities, etc. b) All information explained in the different internship sessions will also be provided through the University¿s institutional platform, including the document outlining the applicable procedures and requirements. c) The essential principles of sustainability and their connection with the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) will be explained, in accordance with the provisions of Royal Decree 822/2021, of September 28. The essential role of sustainability in the digital environment and its integration into training through curricular internships will be highlighted. To this end, and with the support of the tools and documents provided, the student must prepare, at the end of the internship period, a report analyzing the degree to which the host company or institution complies with the SDGs and/or proposing reasoned improvements in this regard, thereby enabling the practical application of acquired knowledge. d) Information will be provided regarding the internship validation procedure and the requirements necessary for its processing and favorable resolution. e) The document provided on the internship system will be reviewed in order to ensure proper understanding and compliance by the students.

Learning activities and methodology
Formative Activity: The purpose of the subject "Internships" is to provide students with an introduction to the professional world through the completion of external internships. Specifically, the aim is for them to become familiar with the activities carried out in the various public or private companies and institutions where the students will undertake their internships. The student will carry out internships directly applying the knowledge acquired in the Master's program, becoming familiar with activities inherent to professional practice such as assisting in documentation searches, case discussions, strategy preparation, document drafting, consultations, report writing, and any other tasks deemed relevant by the host institution. The methodology to be followed in this subject will be as follows: Solving the various scenarios presented at the internship site. Searching for, analyzing, and/or systematizing information, case law, documents, reports, etc. Completion of practical cases, problem-solving, strategy development, preparation of papers or reports, or any other activity proposed by the internship supervisor either individually or in groups. Discussion with the designated tutor regarding problems, guidance, and the resolution of professional issues. Tutoring: Students will have access to tutoring sessions, both in group and individual formats, throughout the corresponding module, with the person responsible for the academic coordination of the subject, as well as with the individual appointed by the Fundación Universidad Carlos III de Madrid who provides specific support in this area. These tutoring sessions aim to address any questions that may arise and to respond to any concerns raised by the students. The tutoring system is designed as an instrument of academic and professional support, through which students are provided with the necessary information and guidance to access internships that match their educational profile, personal preferences, and the real opportunities available, always taking into account their individual situation. In particular, the tutoring sessions aim to: i) Provide guidance regarding the student¿s professional development; ii) Assist in obtaining, modifying, or improving the assigned internships; iii) Address and resolve any questions that may arise during the process of integration and performance in the practical environment.
Assessment System
The purpose of the evaluation is to determine the degree of achievement of the learning objectives established within the framework of the course. The student¿s final grade will be based on the combination of two components: the assessment made by the external supervisor through the corresponding report (80%), and the evaluation of the Internship Report, along with the document related to the analysis of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), both of which must be individually prepared and submitted by each student (20%). To this end, the course evaluation will be distributed according to the following criteria and percentages: ¿ SE5 ¿ Report from the External Supervisor of the External Academic Internship (EAI): 80% ¿ SE6 ¿ Internship Report and other documents submitted on time: 20% The report from the external supervisor evaluates various skills and competencies of the student. 80% The report must include an analysis of the internship experience, the specific activities carried out, the objectives achieved, as well as any other considerations the student deems relevant from an academic or professional standpoint. This document, duly signed and endorsed by the responsible supervisor, constitutes a mandatory requirement for the final evaluation of the internship period. 10% A separate document must also be submitted in which the degree of compliance with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is analyzed, or, where applicable, improvements are proposed in relation to these goals within the organizational context where the internship was carried out. 10% Failure to submit the activity report and the SDG document within 15 days after the completion of the internship period, without justified reason, will result in a grade penalty depending on the length of the delay. If the documents are not submitted, or if the delay exceeds one month, the course will automatically be marked as Not Submitted. All students enrolled in this course are required to complete the full 180 scheduled hours. Absence is only permitted if authorized by the institution, and only if the student is subsequently allowed to complete the mandatory 180 hours. Unjustified absence from the internship will result in a FAIL. There is no provision for an extraordinary examination session. In case of failing the course, the student must re-enroll in the following academic year in order to complete the mandatory curricular internship required to obtain the Master's degree. Students who do not complete the internship during the corresponding period will be recorded as Not Submitted. Guidelines on the Use of Artificial Intelligence Tools In this course, the use of artificial intelligence tools depends on the conditions set by the internship supervisor or those indicated by the host institution. In the absence of specific guidance, all assignments prepared during the internship must adhere to the guidelines set by the library: https://uc3m.libguides.com/TFM/IAGenerativa, and it is mandatory to include a properly completed ¿Declaration of Use of Generative AI¿: http://uc3m.libguides.com/ld.php?content_id=35415901. Furthermore, all AI-generated results must be explicitly and clearly cited in accordance with the instructions provided on the Library¿s website. Failure to include the declaration, or providing false information, will result in a failing grade (0) and may lead to disciplinary proceedings, in addition to any other applicable responsibilities. When developing the SDG document, the above-mentioned guidelines regarding AI use must be taken into account. The SDG document shall describe the SDGs identified as related to Digital Law, assess whether the institution complies with them, and, where appropriate, include proposals for improvement to ensure compliance.
