Objectives
How we should organize society? Why do we need a system of government? What does justice mean? What is the role of political power in Human Rights Theory? Political Philosophy is not just to theoretically understand and to explain political life, but also to offer an assessment of the issues that we should face as citizens, in order to choose between competing goals and values, to solve conflicts, to rule our common tasks and to guarantee our rights.
.- General goals
This subject offers the student the opportunity to obtain the following competences:
1. Awareness of politics as a regulative system of social relations.
2. Understanding of the main concepts used in politics, as well as of the main contemporary political ideologies and its contribution to human rights discourse.
3. Critical awareness of the political phenomenon and interdisciplinary view of political issues.
1. Political Philosophy Introdution. Core concepts: State, Law, Power, political ideologies, Liberty, Equality, Democracy.
2. Contemporary Theories of Justice and Human Rights.
3. Debates about contemporary Political Philosophy and Human Rights.
