Objectives

1. Introduce students to research techniques that may be useful for the preparation of his/her works and future doctoral thesis: selection of topics, hypotheses, structure, methods, systems of citations and references, etc. 2. Provide methodological guidance for research in the field of law, human rights and philosophical/legal studies. 3. Establish formal and procedural guidelines to facilitate the development of a quality work.

1. What is a research? 2. The choice of subject/topic/issue: Basic principles. 3. The search for material: use of sources 4. The theoretical framework. 5. The principles of argumentation. 6. Scheme of work: defining the problem (hypothesis), methodology, work plan and outline. 7. The legal writing. 8. Reference systems. How to cite. 9. Bibliography 10. Plagiarism.

Learning activities and methodology

Basic concepts, logical and chronological steps in a research paper.

% of continuous assessment (assigments, laboratory, practicals...) 100

Regular Call: The subject is assessed by considering the attendance and participation of students (10%), and the delivery of a final paper (90%).

Extra Call: The subject is assessed by the delivery of a extra paper.
