The course focuses on principal film productions of Asia and the Middle East. The Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Indian, and Iranian cinemas will be among the case studies. Additionally, there will be space for Women's cinemas in the Middle East. To optimize the acquisition of skills and knowledge by students in the context of an optional subject, the format of the modules will be monographic, based on the collective works of students around seminars and debates.
1. Theoretical and methodological approaches to the study of World Cinema/Cinema at the Periphery.
2. Introduction to the history of film in Asia and the Middle East: national industries, styles, movements, and authors.
3. Key cultural concepts of the mentioned cinemas: themes, narratives, and aesthetics.
4. Ecocritical perspectives, The Asian Ecocinema.
5. Women's cinema in the Middle East.
