O4: Incorporate daily press reading into their consumption habits. O5: Write all types of informative texts for press, radio, television and multimedia O6: Being able to manage the processes of documentation, access to data and sources in order to produce quality journalistic information O7: Differentiate the news genre from other journalistic genres O8: Develop news criteria. O9: Evaluate, contrast and select sources of information. O10: Apply journalistic ethics and professional deontology. O11: Assess how gender stereotypes and roles affect the professional practice of journalism O12: Reflect critically on the issues on the media's agenda

Unit 1. Introduction to journalistic practice. Characteristics and attributes of the news. Unit 2. Structure of the informative story. Hierarchy of data. Unit 3. Entitled information and the lead or first paragraph. Unit 4. The resources of the news story. Expose, narrate, describe. Unit 5. The approach of the news. Unit 6. Gender in the news Unit 7. The value of the sources. Unit 8. The reference to the sources. Citations and attribution Unit 9. The research is the task of the journalist. Unit 10. Misinformation and Fakes Unit 11. The role of the news agencies. Unit 12. New forms of the news story in the Internet era. Unit 13. Different faces in the news. Radio, web and television.
Learning activities and methodology
- Theoretical lessons and practices: The first lectures, the course will be developed. The aim is that the student recognize and understand the concepts upon which the practice of journalistic news is based. Practices consist of exercise the journalistic approach to recognize the news fact and value components. There will be different types of practices: Preparation of news a few times with news agencies or material delivered by Professor and others, since the initiative of the student's search for the news and access to appropriate sources to develop. - Inverted Classroom: This methodology is used in some subjects of the programme, in this way the student has enough material to work on the subject outside the classroom and on the corresponding day that class is used for discussion, exposition and practical exercises. - Discussion forums: In some subjects, students are invited to watch a film or documentary and a forum is opened for three weeks so that the students and the teacher can exchange ideas and comment on what the film has suggested to them, always relating it to the contents of the subject itself. - Presentations by professionals Throughout the four-month period, a professional journalist will be invited to give a first-hand insight into the practice of the profession and the most sensitive news coverage. For example, gender, migration, mental health or disinformation. - Tutorial regime Individual attendance (individual tutorials) or group attendance (group tutorials). The tutoring day is established at the beginning of each term.
