For the studies of this subject it is recommended to have a knowledge of the development of the evidence in the criminal process.
Objectives
BASIC SKILLS - Acquisition of the knowledge in Criminalistics that helps to develop ideas and to apply them in practice. - Application of the knowledge in Criminalistics to the solution of legal problems in much broader contexts. - Abilities to communicate clearly and without ambiguities with specialised and non-specialised audience. - Learning skills that enable to continue studying in a manner that to large extent will be self-directed or individual. GENERAL SKILLS - Demonstration that the knowledge on basic research methods and principles of Criminalistics has been acquired. - Management of information sources of the Criminalistics. - Elaboration of scientific-legal texts and carrying out efficiently their analysis. - Application of knowledge about Criminalistics in performance of legal functions. SPECIFIC SKILLS - Knowledge of the areas of the forensic science, its functions and utility from the perspective of the police, the judicial and forensic authorities. - Knowledge procedures of collection of different types of proves, their transformation into legal evidences and their use in the trial from the perspective of the police, forensic, expert and the defence of the accused person. - Knowledge the chain of custody of the evidence and relative conduct procedures of the police and judicial authorities.

1. FORENSIC SCIENCE AND THE CRIME SCENE. CHAIN OF CUSTODY OF THE FORENSIC EVIDENCE. - Criminalistics in the world of science. - History and definitions of the branches of criminalistics. - Legality and the chain of of custody. - The crime scene as the first element of the police investigation. 2. FORENSIC ENTOMOLOGY. - Definition and scope. - Insects as a source of information. - Method, investigation and forensic report. 3. GRAPHOLOGY FORENSIC. 4. FORENSIC PHOTOS - Definitions and scopes. - New police photo. - The future of the forensic image: the infography. - High quality hearing of the law enforcement. Forensic acoustics as a method of identification. - Method and investigation. 5. IDENTIFICATION I: DACTILOSCOPIC DAT.A - Definition and scope. - Fingerprints, method, identification and their relevance for the police and forensics. - DNA 6.- LEGAL MEDICINE 7.- TECHNOLOGICAL RESEARCH - General - Virtual undercover agent - Remote registration of electronic devices 
Learning activities and methodology
ACTIVITIES AND METHODOLOGY: - Classes of theory - explanation of all concepts necessary for the subject, uploading all necessary materials and bibliography in virtual Aula Global. - Classes of practices - case study (analysis and resolution) - Mixed classes - analysis of case-law, seminars with practitioners; - Team work - debates about peculiar aspects of the subject matter; - Visit to expert institutions in different areas such as Servicios de Criminalística de la Guardia Civil o Comisaría General de Policía Científica - Individual work - preparation to classes of practice, elaboration of research paper. TUTORSHIPS: Weekly time schedule is provided in virtual Aula Global, without prejudice to those that can be arranged with the teacher whenever required.
