Objectives
OBJECTIVES AND COMPETENCES This subject focuses on the analysis of concepts, methods and perspectives of main discursive theories to apply them to the explication and interpretation of different texts types and speeches. The student is pretended to be able to: - To know and to understand the different dimensions of human linguistic component. - To develop the critic reflection aptitude in language general and speech´s theories ambit. - To know and to understand the different theories and investigation´s methods of main speech´s analysis perspectives. - To be able to analyze and to critic the most relevant text about the subject. - To design communicative strategies and to propose linguistic tool´s catalogues adapted to different situations and different contexts. - To have abilities to value fluency and communicative efficacy of different linguistic resources used in the interaction. - To apply a basic selection of analysis resources to study the relationships between speech and society. - To be able to prepare academic texts related to the topic. - To be able to recognize and describe the discursive mechanisms used by speakers for specific purposes. As a result of learning, the student will know the main problems related to language and discourse theory, as well as the theories that have dealt with them, will have the conceptual and methodological instruments to address them, will be able to handle the bibliography on the subject and to prepare a work on the issues involved in the subject with the relevant academic and conceptual rigor. Learning activities and methodology
The exposition of theoretic questions included in the program is one of the knowledge acquisition´s methods for the student, as much as the determined lectures, which will be the base of scientific discussions, problems expositions and resolution suggestions of those. Furthermore, there will be a practical part, which will consists on the application of the acquired knowledge to different text´s and speeches¿ types analysis from different points of view; on the other hand, students will have to prepare an individual or group oral presentations about one of the studied topics and they will write a text about that exposition. TUTORIALS There will be two hours of tutorials every week.
