Objectives
- Discover the richness and potential of the audiovisual heritage - Approaching the history and evolution of photography, film, radio and television for documents with patrimonial-audiovisual value - Knowing the fundamental resources to raise a rigorous search process property on archives, considering the specificities of the audiovisual documents - Select the audiovisual documentation (photography, television, video, film, radio, sound) has been appropriately preserved - Consider the legal requirements for different uses of audiovisual heritage - Identify the impact of digitalization process on audiovisual documentation and heritage as in their conservation as dissemination procesess
Skills and learning outcomes
Description of contents: programme
This course aims to raise awareness of the existing audiovisual heritage in audiovisual information sources in Spain and the world and explain the technical and technological processes for the preservation of this heritage. - Unit 1. Introduction to audiovisual heritage and documentation: media and formats. The significance of preservation. - Unit 2. The film heritage: sources, funds and management - Unit 3. Television and visual heritage: sources, collections and management - Unit 4. The photographic heritage: sources, collections and management - Unit 5. The sound heritage: sources, collections and management - Unit 6. Digitalization projects of the audiovisual heritage
Learning activities and methodology
1. Lectures Basic knowledge of the audiovisual heritage, the problems of preservation of the supports, and the processes of digitalization. Competencies 1, 2 and 3 (1 ECTS). 2. Practical work Practical classes with resources with audiovisual heritage. Competencies 3 and 4. (1 ECTS). 3. Student work Supervised study of theoretical and practical content, teaching materials and processing jobs. Competencies 1, 2 and 3 (1 ECTS).
